Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer you'll own significant parts of our Python backend — from architecture and API design to performance and reliability in production. You'll work on high-traffic Django and FastAPI services, mentor junior engineers and help set the engineering standards the team follows. We're looking for someone with 3-5 years of experience who has shipped and operated real systems, and who cares about maintainability as much as delivery speed.

Responsibilities

Own the design and delivery of backend features and services end to end
Architect scalable APIs and data models with Django and FastAPI
Improve performance: query optimisation, caching and async processing
Lead code reviews and raise the bar on testing and code quality
Mentor junior engineers and help them grow
Work with product managers to break down requirements into technical plans
Participate in on-call rotation and drive root-cause analysis for incidents

Requirements

3-5 years of backend development experience, primarily in Python
Deep hands-on experience with Django and/or FastAPI in production
Strong SQL skills and experience tuning PostgreSQL or MySQL
Experience with caching (Redis) and message queues (Celery / RabbitMQ)
Good understanding of system design, API versioning and security best practices
Experience writing automated tests and working with CI/CD pipelines
Clear communicator who can explain trade-offs to technical and non-technical people
